Nicholas Vita

Nicholas Vita, Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and Director

Nicholas Vita co-founded Columbia Care in 2012 and serves as Chief Executive Officer. Nicholas has over 25 years of experience serving in corporate leadership roles, investing capital, structuring and funding public/private partnerships and providing strategic advisory services to Fortune 500 companies throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia and Latin America. Prior to Columbia Care, Nicholas was a Partner and served as the Chairman of the Investment Committee at Apelles Investment Management, LLC, a private investment management company focused on the healthcare and privatized military infrastructure sectors. Before Apelles, Nicholas was a General Partner, member of the Investment Committee, and the Portfolio Manager for the Healthcare Sector at ARX Investment Management. Previously, he worked in the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs & Co. Inc., as an Analyst, Associate and Vice President in the Healthcare Department focused on Mergers, Raid Defense and Corporate Finance. He is a graduate of Columbia College, Columbia University where he was a member of the Men’s Varsity Heavyweight Crew Team.

Michael Abbott

Co-Founder, Executive Chairman and Director

Michael co-founded Columbia Care in 2012 and serves as the Executive Chairman. He also serves as Chairman of its’ Board of Directors and sits on its Nominating and Governance Committee. Michael joined Swiss Bank Corporation in 1990 as an Associate in Equity Capital Markets, being transferred to the Bank’s Chicago branch in 1993 to work with SBC O’Connor. In 1996 Michael joined Goldman Sachs as a Vice President in the Convertible Trading and Sales Department. He then led the Structured Product Trading and Origination Group. Michael co-founded the foreign exchange trading hedge fund Elysium Capital in 2002. In 2006 he became Chief Executive Officer and head of the investment committee of Robeco Sage, a multi billion dollar fund of hedge funds. Michael was appointed Chief Investment Officer of the Cornell University endowment in 2010. In 2012 he became a Managing Director at the Raptor Group, a single family office based out of Boston and New York City. Michael started his professional career in 1983 as a London Police Officer and he represented the United Kingdom as a marksman with the British Team throughout the 1980’s, and was the British Police Champion marksmen in 1986. Michael matriculated at King’s College London in their School of Law, graduating in 1990 with a Bachelor of Laws degree. Michael serves on the Advisory Counsel of King’s College London Business School.

Igor Gimelshtein


Igor Gimelshtein is a Partner at Zola Global, an operationally focused family office that deploys capital to help management teams build lasting and sustainable businesses, primarily in the legal cannabis industry globally. Previously, Mr. Gimelshtein was the Chief Financial Officer and Corporate Secretary of MedReleaf Corp. prior to its acquisition by Aurora Cannabis Inc. in 2018. At MedReleaf, Mr. Gimelshtein provided leadership on financial matters, including capital structure, forecasting, budgeting and reporting, as well as corporate development and data-driven business optimization. Prior to MedReleaf, he was a Vice President at Birch Hill Equity Partners, a leading Canadian private equity firm. Prior to joining Birch Hill, Mr. Gimelshtein worked for Union Square Advisors as an investment banker focused on the technology sector.

John Howard


John D. Howard is Co-Managing Partner of Irving Place Capital and has more than 30 years of private equity investing experience in the retail and consumer products and industrial industries. Prior to founding Irving Place Capital in 1997, Mr. Howard was the co-CEO of Vestar Capital Partners, a private investment firm specializing in management buyouts. Previously, Mr. Howard was a Senior Vice President and Partner of Wesray Capital Corporation, one of the foremost private equity sponsors and a pioneer in the leveraged buyout business. Mr. Howard currently sits on the board of Bendon, New York & Company, and rag & bone.

James A.C. Kennedy


In December 2015, James A.C. Kennedy resigned from his role as President and Chief Executive Officer of T. Rowe Price Group, a global investment management organization, serving institutions and individuals around the world and retired from T. Rowe Price in June 2016. Mr. Kennedy spent 38 years with T. Rowe Price, including nine years as CEO, during which time the firm's assets more than doubled to $763 billion. Previously Mr. Kennedy served as an investment analyst, as Director of Research, and as Head of Equities at the firm. Mr. Kennedy also served on the Board of T. Rowe Price for 20 years. Prior to earning his MBA at Stanford University, Mr. Kennedy participated in the Financial Management training program at General Electric. Mr. Kennedy currently serves on the board of United Continental, Downtown Baltimore Partnership and University of Maryland, Baltimore Foundation.

Jonathan P. May

Lead Director

Jonathan May is currently Co-Founder and Managing Director of Floresta Ventures, LLC. Floresta invests, owns and operates restaurant and retail concepts. He is also a co-founder and managing director of Floresta Partners, LLC, a consulting firm focusing on growing multi-unit restaurant and retail concepts. Prior to forming Floresta, Mr. May was Executive Director of Natural Capital Partners Holdings LLC. NCPH works with corporations to measure their environmental impact and deliver solutions for positive impact on carbon, renewable energy, water, biodiversity and communities.

Previously Mr. May was a founder and Managing Director of Catalytic Capital LLC, a private equity firm focused on growing retail and consumer branded companies. Before co-founding Catalytic Capital, Mr. May was Senior Vice President of Corporate Development for Triarc Companies, Inc. where he was responsible for merger identification and execution, corporate finance, and strategic planning. Mr. May also served as Chief Executive Officer of Arby's, Inc., where he managed the growth of 3,400 restaurants comprising $2.5 billion of global system-wide sales. Mr. May held a variety of strategic and operating roles at Arby's before becoming CEO. Mr. May also sits on the Board of Trustees of Griffin Industrial Realty, a publicly traded real estate company. David F. Solomon


Mr. Solomon is currently a Partner at Hildred Capital Partners and serves on the Board of Directors for Crown Laboratories, a pharmaceutical and consumer brand company focused in dermatology and skincare; SportsMed, a physical therapy services business; Quantum-Si, an innovative life sciences technology company; Pii, a pharmaceutical development and manufacturing company; and Columbia Care. Additionally, Mr. Solomon is an Executive Partner at Tyree & D'Angelo, an investment firm focused on consolidation of healthcare-related businesses.

Before launching Hildred Capital Partners, Mr. Solomon spent fourteen years at Forest Laboratories, ultimately as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development & Strategic Planning. At Forest, Mr. Solomon's responsibilities included overseeing business development and strategy, managing all manufacturing and operations, and expanding the company's global presence. Mr. Solomon departed Forest after it was acquired by Actavis for $28 billion in July 2014.

Prior to his time at Forest, Mr. Solomon was an entertainment lawyer at Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison in New York; a Director of Creative Affairs at Paramount Pictures in Los Angeles; and an independent producer with Davis Entertainment, based at 20th Century Fox. Mr. Solomon also produced the Peabody Award winning documentary film Rebirth.
